Everyone finally got their flight details down for our first trip out to Colorado this year. Next thing on the list is to get the gears ready.
I'll have to take my Custom in for a tune up and possibly a wax job. I would normally wax my own board but considering my board has been in storage for the past few month, taking it in for a infrared wax job might not be a bad idea. Do know that shit aint cheap. A tune up + infrared wax job would cost about 40 bucks.
To be honest, i don't think there is a difference between a hot wax job and an infrared wax job. The latter just sounds more fancy. Instead of dripping melted hot wax, they crayon a layer of wax on the base and then sends it under an infrared machine. The infrared will open up the pores of the base material and allow more wax to melt further into the base. I would imagine a board with sintered base will benefit more from this procedure over an extruded base due to the amount of wax it can hold.
Waxing at home isnt hard at all. It gives me a chance to do the "wax on wax off" without having to endure the strange look from others.
